Crabtree Meadows

Our favorite spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway is a campground called Crabtree Meadows. It's about 50 miles north of Asheville, very quiet most of the time, and home to the beautiful and magical Crabtree Falls (see picture on the right of the blog). This past weekend, we spent Saturday and Sunday night there.

Rosey, roughin' it.
A well deserved bone. This dog LOVES camping.

On Sunday, we read and did crossword puzzles in the morning, made lunch and then took a day trip to Linville Falls.
There are lots of trails so that you can hike to see the falls from different perspectives. The rhododendrons are in full bloom and they surround the trails on both sides...it is stunning.

Hi cutie!
Back at camp, we just relaxed, took several hikes to Crabtree Falls and enjoyed each other's company.
This is pretty much how all three of us felt when we got home last night:

We have rested minds and tired bodies. That's how you know you've had a successful camping trip.
