On Thursday we got up around 8, baked a chocolate pie, made corn muffins and broccoli cheddar soup (both of which were for lunch rather than the big dinner) and then got the turkey in the oven.
Kat's family came over around noon and we ate soup on the back porch while we watched the dogs run around in the yard. (Mocha stayed with us while the Macs were out of town.) Afterwards, we relaxed, played games, watched football, and did a little more cooking...
A cute mother-daughter moment
We had So. Much. Fun. After dinner was over, we threw everything in the kitchen, put the living room back together and watched A Christmas Story. I am so incredibly thankful for my family and the wonderful day that we were able to share together.
Round Two:
After getting up on Friday morning and decorating for Christmas, Mike and I went over to Wiene and Phil's for their Thanksgiving celebration. Phil is an incredible chef and made Peking Duck, Fried Rice and asparagus rather than the traditional meal. It was outrageously good and we had a great time visiting with everyone. Oh, and did I mention that he made homemade Persimmon Pudding for dessert? Well, he did. God, it was good.
I am seriously overflowing with gratitude from the great weekend we have had. I can't imagine a better feeling to be left with after the party has come to an end.
