Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving, in my mind, officially started on Wednesday evening. Mike and I went out for dinner, ran a few errands, came home and prepared the squash and green bean casseroles. We watched a surprisingly good documentary called The King of Kong and went to bed early.

On Thursday we got up around 8, baked a chocolate pie, made corn muffins and broccoli cheddar soup (both of which were for lunch rather than the big dinner) and then got the turkey in the oven.

Kat's family came over around noon and we ate soup on the back porch while we watched the dogs run around in the yard. (Mocha stayed with us while the Macs were out of town.) Afterwards, we relaxed, played games, watched football, and did a little more cooking...

Around five, it was time to get down to business...

The Traditional Thanksgiving Picture in our Fam:

We had So. Much. Fun. After dinner was over, we threw everything in the kitchen, put the living room back together and watched A Christmas Story. I am so incredibly thankful for my family and the wonderful day that we were able to share together.

Round Two:

After getting up on Friday morning and decorating for Christmas, Mike and I went over to Wiene and Phil's for their Thanksgiving celebration. Phil is an incredible chef and made Peking Duck, Fried Rice and asparagus rather than the traditional meal. It was outrageously good and we had a great time visiting with everyone. Oh, and did I mention that he made homemade Persimmon Pudding for dessert? Well, he did. God, it was good.

Allyn and John:
John and Alan rockin out:

John then played a request from Allyn. He is so talented!
Jake and Luke, acting, well, like themselves... :)

We are smiling so big because we haven't had so many calories in months. Mmmm....

One of the coolest parts of the night for me was that I got to meet someone who will be in my massage therapy class in March. Her parents live down the road from Wiene and Phil and they all came over for a drink on Friday. She and I had a lot of fun chatting and are going to go out for lunch sometime soon to get to know each other a little better before school starts. Isn't that fun?!

I am seriously overflowing with gratitude from the great weekend we have had. I can't imagine a better feeling to be left with after the party has come to an end.
